Gold Box Office Collection Day 1: Akshay Kumar-starrer earns Rs 27 crore, stands equal to Salman Khan’s Race 3

Akshay Kumar comes with yet another offering for Independence Day with Gold. The film is all about independent India’s first Olymic Gold win in 1948, under the supervision of Tapan Das played by Akshay himself. Gold also marks TV actress Mouni Roy’s Bollywood debut. She has played Akshay’s wife Monobina in the film. As we already expected, the film has raked in moolah at the box office. However, the numbers are higher than we expected, unfazed by John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate.
